Our Story

Farmigo was founded on the principle that locally grown organic food is fresher, healthier, beneficial for the community, and more sustainable for the environment. The question we asked ourselves was, "How can we help make locally grown food more accessible and attractive so that it becomes the obvious choice for the greater population?" Our premise was that if small complementary farms in the same geographic area could collaborate with one another in a simple and efficient way, the food needs of the local community would be met and the farms would continue to develop and prosper.

The Farmigo team set out on a mission to apply its extensive software and Internet expertise to enable farms to work together and provide their produce directly to people in their communities. The Farmigo software provides consumers with an easy way to subscribe to the harvest of a local farm as well as supplement their weekly food needs through the farm's web store. At the same time, our goal is to ensure that farms using our system become highly profitable and sustainable.

Company Founders

Benzi Ronen and Yossi Pik met at SAP, the third largest software company in the world. After designing and building software applications for the most successful Fortune 500 companies, they decided to start a company founded on their passion to help people lead healthier lives by eating locally grown food. They set out to build software designed to support small farms feeding their communities.

Benzi Ronen consults to farms on how to take advantage of Internet related technologies to increase their profitability and sustainability. While he grew up between Manhattan's high-rises, he was always drawn to the outdoors. He volunteered on several farms where he took advantage of his six foot six physique to pick the high hanging fruit.

He has a passion for travel and has been to many remote places in the world, experiencing the locals through their agriculture and culinary culture. Regions of travel include: South & Central America, The Far East, Australia/New Zealand and the Middle East.

Benzi was most recently Vice President of Product Management at SAP. Prior to SAP, he co-founded and was CEO of Octago Inc. based in San Francisco and was a product manager at both Microsoft and Netscape. He has an MBA from the University of Michigan and a BA in Sociology and Anthropology. He has a blog on entrepreneurship here.
Yossi Pik heads engineering and development. He has fond childhood memories of nursing his family's fruit trees (mango, pomegranate and guava) and eating the fruit directly from the trees. Today, while he claims to be a city boy, he makes sure that his family gets their weekly produce and eggs either from the Farmer's Market or directly from the farm.

Yossi believes that every meal should be enriched with vegetables. A green salad is served daily with his family's meals. Yossi now spends his free time training for marathons.

Yossi was most recently Vice President of development at SAP where he led a team of 60 people and was the primary inventor of several technological patents. Ever since graduating with a BA in Computer Science and Economics, over 12 years ago, he has been building software to make people more productive.
